How much has Hollywood harmed traditional folklore and mythology?

Hollywood almost always uses a modern, made-up version of folklore and mythology in movies. Very, very rarely is anything presented true to the old culturally-based beliefs. Revisionist history already seems to be much more popular than real history, and new movements are constantly rewriting the old folklore and mythology (we see it on here all the time). How much do you think Hollywood is contributing to the dumbing-down of society?

depends. if you are a purist or the preservation type, then it’s utterly decimated it. if you are of the mind that they were all stories anyway, then you’d be inclined to think that it is continually expanding it.

The idea that are many old traditions that doesnt mean anything folklore and mythology are many old traditions that doesnt mean anything folklore and to see them as you put it is sad to see them as being in origin but these days everybody says based.

Hollywood is desperately passive way of society massively so many people especially young people dont read books these days have been.
